Fujimatsu is a seafront restaurant located inside the former residence of the Fujimatsu family — whalers and sake brewers who helped build Ojika Island’s economy. The restaurant’s backyard has a beautiful walkway leading to the private boating dock. There, from across the sea, guests can see the mysterious Nozaki Island with its sacred Okino-Kojima shrine. At Fujimatsu, locally produced ingredients at the peak of their freshness are turned into exquisite dishes that can be savored in the elegant atmosphere of the building.

Locally Sourced Ingredients
Fujimatsu sources its ingredients including fish, vegetables, and rice from local farmers and fishermen, ensuring the quality and freshness of its fare. The restaurant’s menu focuses on seasonality and the culinary identity of Ojika Island. Dining at Fujimatsu is an opportunity to support the farming and fishing families on Ojika as well as to get a taste of ‘island food’.

Sublime Atmosphere
Stepping through the lattice doors guests are awestruck by what is found inside. The spacious entrance area is lit with a warm light reflecting gently from the stone-paved floor. The tall ceiling is supported by wooden beams and pillars — the 170-years-old building has the loveliest of the nostalgic, rural atmospheres of Old Japan. The sliding doors of the banquet room are kept open with a 7-meter-long wooden table on display. Made from a single piece of Bubinga wood weighing one ton, this table was brought in from Tokyo as a part of the house’s restoration project. Led through the hallway with the floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the beautiful Japanese garden, guests arrive at their private dining room. Both Western-style and Japanese-style rooms are available and each room is decorated with antiques from the Fujimatsu family’s collection. After finishing their meal guests are encouraged to take a walk in the backyard, where they can enjoy a magnificent view of Nozaki Island.
