FUNAMORI TREKKING
ABOUT
Enjoy trekking through the beautiful forest dotted with mossy megalithic rocks. Your goal, the remains of the Funamori Village, is located in the southern part of Nozaki Island. To get there you will be using the pathway that historically was used as the commute route between the former Nokubi and Funamori Villagesー two hamlets where the Hidden Christians from mainland Japan migrated to while trying to escape the persecution.

The remains of the settlement present a fascinating landscape of terraced fields carved into the hill facing the coast. The sight of wild deers roaming freely on the hill and in the forest that surrounds it, make the place seem otherworldly.
