Spend your day like a local
Ojika Island
FARMING & COOKING WITH LOCALS @KOMINKA
ABOUT
Experience the change of season in Ojika Island through its harvest. Ojika’s red volcanic soil is rich in minerals and is perfect for growing root vegetables such as potatoes and peanuts. Join a local farmer’s family to dig out some of the fresh goodness then bring it to kominka: your island home, for dinner. There, a local 'okaasan' will pay you a visit to teach you how to turn your harvest into Ojika's traditional dishes.
Through this experience, we hope you can immerse into the island's life, befriend locals, learn how to make local cuisine, and have a fulfilling and memorable time in Ojika, not as a tourist, but as a part of a local community.
