Traveling to an island you expect fresh fish to be sold at every corner. That's not the case in Ojika. Here visitors get surprised with a lack of fish for sale. That’s because locals believe that why buy fish when you can catch it yourself?

In Ojika fishing is an integral part of everyday life where islanders go fishing on daily basis. We wanted our guests to experience this side of the island's lifestyle.

During this experience, you will go fishing with a local who will act as your instructor. Once you have your catch sorted bring it to kominka: your island home. There, a local 'okaasan' will pay you a visit to teach you how to fillet the fish and turn it into Ojika's traditional dishes.

Through this experience, we hope you can immerse into the island's life, befriend locals, learn how to make local cuisine, and have a fulfilling and memorable time in Ojika, not as a tourist, but as a part of a local community.
